Avatar Fire and Ash PR Stunt
Working as Exec Producer for Electric Sheep Events, we created a major stunt moment for Disney, that owned social and news coverage for the day to celebrate the release of Avatar Fire & Ash, helping to cement the movie as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. The brief was to be be bold and original with a never-before-seen one-of-a-kind execution.
We created a giant four-storey-building sized Avatar emblem and set it ablaze on the River Thames using special fire FX. The spectacular, eleven-metre tall sculpture depicted the iconic banshee symbol, spreading its 5-metre wingspan in front of the flaming ‘A’ shape, that has come to define the most successful film series of all time.
We closed the river to shoot this stunt, using drones and camera crew on boats, and then moored the huge fire sculpture close to Tower Bridge where we set it on fire again for the ultimate talent photo-call backdrop. The result was a compelling video edit and stills for news and press that achieved 93 pieces of coverage across TV, radio and national newspapers. TV broadcast coverage included ITV news that same evening, and both This Morning and Good Morning Britain the next morning.
